What is the cheapest way to ship a saddle?

UPS, USPS, FedEx ?

I just sold a saddle (barrel) and the girl was going to exist sending me $fifty to comprehend the shipping costs. Afterwards getting a couple crude online quotes I don't retrieve that's going to exist enough ????

UPS was $200 and USPS was $150!

I don't accept the box yet, and so I just guessed on some dimensions, and figured information technology'd be nigh 35 lbs.

ETA: I'm in PA and this would exist going to CA.

Here'due south what you do. Get the smallest box possible that the saddle will fit in. Freight is always calculated (no matter what service provider you lot use) as book weight. (They'll take the W x H Ten D and actual weight into account). Transport it Usa Post basis. An average saddle weighing 35 pounds in a box that's 28 by 18 by 19 will run about $48.11 Standard Mail for domestic. All the other recommended things are extra i.due east. insurance, signature and delivery confirmation which drives upward the price. (We don't send without insurance and tracking and delivery confirmation.) Another option is UPS which is who we use but, once more, getting it in the smallest box possible will save you the most. Hope that helps!

I usually utilize USPS but have used FedEx ground also too. But with FedEx, I get a corporate account disbelieve, and then it'southward cheaper for me than just someone shipping one time.

The reason its costing so much is the location. From Pa to CA is as far autonomously every bit you can get. I am in TN and take never been able to send to CA for less than $100 but it but toll me nearly $50 to send whatsoever where else.

I typically apply UPS because I trust them the near. FedEx handles USPS and I've had to have it out with the mail office more than once nearly things being delivered on time or to the right identify, etc.

Idk, that'southward simply based on my personal experiences. I also always get some level of insurance on it. 99 times you won't use it, and and so the 100th time you'll demand it, and Murphy's law says it will be your well-nigh expensive saddle information technology happens to.

I shipped a saddle to a lady with $1300 and asked for signature, but somehow it didn't get put on there.  The ups man dropped the saddle off at the ladys driveway (information technology was in a double J box) instead of the front end porch, which he wrote downwardly on the ticket front porch, someone stopped and stole the saddle.  This was June 5...even so fighting with UPS to get my refund.  It was a bays saddle and keep asking for invoice, now they wont tell me anything considering Im the not shipper (I took it to a store in my town and they had ups pick it upwards)  It weighed 35lbs and it cost me $72  and information technology was in my land.  Dont transport annihilation that much without a signature and ins. and brand sure it has signature and insurance written on the ticket.

Just shipped a barrel saddle an hour ago. $32 for USPS at iii-half dozen weeks delivery plus another $24 for insurance.
Chose not to exercise that because I wouldn't be happy waiting 6 weeks for a saddle I bought!

Sent this one FedEx for $64 insured for delivery Saturday. They matched the USPS toll, otherwise FedEx regular price was $70 insured.

If you are calculating shipping on line with USPS, be sure y'all are selecting parcel post. 150 seems way likewise loftier. I've shipped all over the US with tracking and insurance and don't think I've ever paid more than 55 using parcel post.

I just shipped a Sports Saddle via UPS...FL to TN... two-day with insurance for $75.00...ground without insurance would of been about $45. Of course, a heavier saddle would run a little more, I think.
